Courses designed for First Aid at home and in the community. These courses are not designed to meet your obligations to provide First Aid at Work.

Course Outlines

Outdoor First Aid

16 Hours

This course is held in the great outdoors and is a very hands-on experience designed to develop the skills needed to handle emergencies away from urban centres and road-transport routes. Bring all-weather gear and a hearty lunch!

Unit Standards available:

  • 6402: Provide basic life support
  • 6401: Provide first aid
  • 6400: Manage first aid in an emergency situation

Save a Life

4 Hours

Learn the basics of First Aid in a quick, fun and interactive course. Learn, practise and gain confidence in the fundamentals of First Aid.

Unit Standards available:

  • 6402: Provide basic life support

Babysitter First Aid

3 Hours

A course for babysitters or nannies, as well as parents and family, caregivers – anyone looking after young children. (This course is not the recommended course for childcare businesses like schools and kindergartens.)

Kaumātua/Senior First Aid

2 Hours

Our non-certificate course designed for senior members of the community who may be concerned about responding to heart attack, stroke and other life saving techniques while help is on the way.

Pēpi/Infant CPR & Choking

1 Hour

Our non-certificate community course designed for anyone who wants to learn how to help an infant or small child who is choking or needs CPR.

Basic Resuscitation

2 Hours

The basics of keeping someone alive while help is on the way by providing CPR and knowing where to find an AED and how to use it.

Prerequisites

  • English language proficiency
  • Physical agility (bending and kneeling)
